Leader of a civic group #This Constitution Our Constitution Abigale Mupambi has said the recent attack at Nkayi in a mine wrangle has exposed the
police's weakness in handling the gold panning issues.
Mupambi said the issue of Inyathi attacks which attracted army on the ground at Durban mine does not only stir panic in the community but also
exposes the police Inyathi who seem to have failed to handle gold panners who are a very few number compared to the capacity of the force which we expect to deliver as tax payers!!
"The issue around Durban mine fights is not knew in Bubi district, One might wonder why and how the labelled illegal miners were continuously
allowed to operate this long in the face of the law and law enforcement agents ,what made this whole issue to grow this far is because authorities
including police are said to be involved in sponsoring the gangs on this mine!!and later on share the outputs! Now for the authorities to have acted
against this long back it was a none starter because of conflict of interest," said Mupambi.
"I understand up to now the Bubi authorities including the Hon MP and minister Sibanda hasn't issued any statement to that effect ,l just hope he
is not part of the circles!! It is unfortunate that the issue has gone tribal but the bottom line is we all need each other as a nation and we
ought to uphold the peace in our great nation!! We are a people together!!"
