The Nkayi Community Parliament has expressed concerns regarding the deteriorating condition of a building housing the Registrar-General's Office in the Nkayi district, Matabeleland North province. Some reports have indicated that several rooms in the building lack doors. The structure, located in Skhobokhobo, ward 15, was provided to the Registrar-General's Office by the Nkayi Rural District Council, while Chief Skhobokhobo uses another portion as a community hall.
Nhlanhla Ncube, the NCP speaker, highlighted the need for discussions on the building's condition, emphasizing the importance of providing better service delivery to the community. Ncube suggested that if the NCP does not contribute to projects like these, he may propose the closure of the parliament.
A source from the Registrar-General's Office confirmed the situation, indicating that they share the building with Chief Skhobokhobo, with the Registry using two rooms while the chief utilizes the other part.
Silibele Mpofu, the chief executive of Nkayi RDC, mentioned ongoing efforts to assess the building's condition and plan renovations for community benefit. However, budget constraints are currently affecting the process.
Nkayi North MP Sithembiso Nyoni, who is affiliated with Zanu-PF, acknowledged the situation and promised to investigate the building's status.
