A WOMAN has appeared in court facing theft charges after she allegedly stole her ex-husband's clothes and his new wife's panties.
Sarudzai Mlambo, 33, sent her 11-year-old son who lives with his father Michael Mlambo to steal the clothes while she waited outside the house.
The son took the clothes and handed them to her.
Mlambo was not asked to plead by provincial magistrate Willard Maphios Moyo and remanded out of custody to February 5.
When she was asked in court why she shares the same surname with her ex-husband, she said they were still married.
"Your worship, he's my husband. We got married under Chapter 5:11 of Marriages Act which doesn't allow him to marry more than one wife but he chased me out of our house and threatened to kill me if I set foot there," she said.
Prosecuting, Mufaro Mageza told the court that in December last year, Sarudzai went to her ex-husband's place of residence in Mbundane and instructed their son to give her his father's two t-shirts and the stepmother's panties which were in the bedroom.
The matter came to light on January 2, this year when the new wife discovered some of her underwear was missing.
Mlambo's son told her that he gave the clothes to his mother who had visited during their absence.
The matter was reported to the police leading to her arrest.
