A former MDCT Councillor in Chiredzi who recently served a jail term for fraud is being dragged to court again by people accusing him of defrauding them of their money.

Munyaradzi Hatinahama who was councilor for Ward 5 is accused of duping residents of money after promising to give them residential stands in 2013.

According to court papers filed seperately at Chiredzi Civil Court and seen by The Mirror Hatinahama is being taken to the Civil Court by Gaskel Machingambi, Edson Mundingi and Makaita Chiyange after he took their money and promised to give them residential stands.

Machingambi is claiming $480 or the delivery of a residential stand, being monies collected by Hatinahama in March 2013 on the promise that he would purchase a stand on behalf of him. Despite several demands he has failed or neglected and or refused to pay back the money, reads part of the papers.

Mundingi through case number GL847/16 is claiming $500 and Chiyange; case number GL850/16 alleges that she paid for a beast and is claiming $500 citing similar reasons as those advanced by Machingambi.

Hatinahama confirmed the cases and said that he was going to fight them in the court.

"I can confirm that I know the people you are talking about and if they have any case against me they should report to the Police. I did not take anyone`s money promising stands. When I won elections various people gave me gifts including cattle and there were no strings attached. If Machingambi and company attach such gifts to stands it is unfortunate" said Hatinahama.

Hatinahama seized to be a councilor after he served a jail term for fraud last year and by-elections were held in his ward to fill the vacant.
