A political analyst Tendai Mandishona has claimed that Pastor Evan Mawarire is a Central Intelligence Organbisation member after he launched his protests last year and distanced himself from politics only to emerge this year tipping the nation that he may contest 2018 elections.
Mandishona said Mawarire started his post last year which he distance himself from politicians, but any right thinking Zimbabwean knows that political change in Zimbabwe is only possible through the ballot.
"Mawarire is not supporting any candidate which means his campaign is fruitless attempt to dethrone Mugabe. If he decides to contest because of sympathy he will split votes and extend Bob's rule. Some view it as democracy but the bigger goal will be to defeat change," he said.
"Mawarire has been hauled before the courts and escaped through deliberate technicalities on the party of National Prosecuting Authority. Mawarire has since not been beaten something people of his kind has been meted with severely. Maybe he is not a real threat to the regime."
He said whilst other activists remain in exile he decides to return.
"Jailed and released to destabilize the opposition and split votes. Opposition should be careful of the Simba Makoni 2008 effect," he said.
