The family of Belington Nyamadzawo a man who axed chief Makope (Jacob Mapirinjanja ) has been slapped with five beasts as fine by Chief Negomo in Chiweshe Mashonaland Central.

It is alleged Nyamadzawo's mother Charity Nyamhinda was summoned at chief Negomo's village court after her son axed Chief Makope over a forbidden tree on 4 March.

Chief Negomo sentenced Nyamhinda in default and she was ordered to pay five beasts to Chief Makope.

However, there are mixed feeling among Mvurwi residents who feel criminal charge is enough for Nyamadzao.

"It is very unfair to charge a person twice for one charge that is very unfair since Nyamadzawo has been reminded in custody criminal law should just prevail not the other way round,"said a source in confidentiality.

Chief Makope's advisor Norman Mondoka believes both civil and criminal law should take course on the matter.

"We are Africans and what Nyamadzawo did was barbaric hence both laws should prevails," bellowed Mondoka.

In a related case Vimbai Chiwara from Rongore farm in Centenary was slapped one beast by Chief Negomo for cutting down a forbidden tree in Chief Makope's area the very day Makope was axed.

The cutting down of trees is mushrooming in Mashonaland Central ahead of tobacco curing exercises currently in progress.
