Suspect flees scene, claims to have been chasing the thief

A 43-Year-Old Mvurwi man was sentenced to 8 months in prison for unlawfully entering into Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) Mashonaland Central youth chairman's shop and stole goods worth $96 by Guruve magistrate today.
Guruve magistrate Mr Artwel Sanyatwe sentenced Eikim Ngwenya to 8 months imprisonment, five of which were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
Public prosecutor Ms Venesencia Musiiwa told the court that on 23 May 2017 Ngwenya unlawfully entered into Tonderai Samhu's shop and stole goods worth $96.
He was seen in the act by Samhu's son and he fled. The court also heard that when Ngwenya was caught after fleeing the scene running he claimed to have been chasing the thief.
