MARONDERA mayor Anthony Makwindi on Wednesday said President Emmerson Mnangagwa's rise to power has restored confidence in the business community in Zimbabwe seen by the expansion of companies such as Jet Stores.

Speaking on the sidelines of the official re-opening of Jet Stores Marondera branch after its temporary closure for renovations, Makwindi said the new dispensation has ushered in positive change in Zimbabwe.

"If you see people expanding, it is a sign that confidence has been reinstated in Zimbabwean business and we are glad that the new dispensation has ushered in this kind of change," he said.

He said it was positive that Jet Stores had employed many people at a time when there was high unemployment in the country.

Makwindi said the facelift has given the branch the world-class standards and promised to negotiate for reasonable prices.

The Marondera branch manager, Theresa Makeche, said the revamp was a special way to boost sales and enhance in-store shopping experience while improving operations as a brand.

"Before the renovations, the shopping environment was poor and we were losing sales to Jet Harare because it did not match the standards of other Jet Stores. I am proud to say we have now created a worldclass Jet environment, which offers more sales at a less price," she said.

The Jet brand was launched in Zimbabwe in 2011, rebranding from Express Stores and has spread nationwide, with 25 branches across the country.
