The People's Rainbow Coalition Manicaland Star Rally at Rimbi Business Centre in Musikavanhu constituency failed to live to the expectations of the opposition movement led by Dr Joyce Mujuru as it was characterised by a poor turnout.

Dr Mujuru who was vice president of the country before being expelled from Zanu-PF party used to command huge crowds then, but her Manicaland Star Rally saw only a small crowd attending.

The meeting that was supposed to start at ten in the morning started in the afternoon despite the party leader having arrived in time at Rimbi as his forerunners reportedly advised her to wait until more people turn up at the rally.

In an interview soon after her address, Dr Mujuru acknowledged that the crowd was exceedingly low but was quick to say the party is only making inroads on an unfamiliar territory adding that the rally was only a constituency gathering and not a provincial event.

While addressing party supporters, she said the People's Rainbow Coalition party's manifesto seeks to promote value edition, accelerate economic development, revive the industry and create employment while accusing the ruling party of stealing diamonds from Chiadzwa and offer meaningful development in the country.

She however acknowledged that the new dispensation managed to attend to the Tanganda-Checheche road which she said destroyed her car last year before its resurfacing.

Dr Mujuru claimed that the dairy board plant in Chipinge which is the sole producer of sterilised milk in the country has crumbled before taking a swipe at Agritex and Veterinary Services for allegedly not assisting farmers.

She said the coalition will field candidates throughout the country as the party prepares to contest in this year's harmonised elections.
