Mnangagwa targets urban councils

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has exhorted the electorate to ensure the party controls both central government and councils including urban areas to ensure coordinated development of infrastructure in councils' particularly urban areas.

Addressing thousands of Zanu-PF party supporters at Pfupajena Stadium in Chegutu yesterday, President Mnangagwa said opposition controlled urban area infrastructure is in a sorry state with potholes littering roads in cities and towns, hence the need to vote for the revolutionary party in the forthcoming harmonised polls.

He said it is time to reverse this trend by ensuring that urban councils' and central government are in the hands of the Zanu-PF and this should be corrected in the coming elections on July 30 this year.

President Mnangagwa also revealed that $1 billion is already on the table for the Batoka Gorge and Hwange 7 and 8 power enhancement projects to ensure self-sufficiency and exports to the country's neighbours.

He also highlighted some successes that Zimbabwe has made in the economic resuscitation including the revival of the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) which has seen cargo transmission increasing by 12 percent in the last few months after a group of diasporans invested some US$400 million.
