A GUTU magistrate has ordered a local man to undergo a mental examination after he dug up his father's grave and took the remains which he kept in his house.
Court heard that 46-year-old Moses Zuva's father died two decades ago.
Prosecutors say that on September 13 this year, Zuva went to the grave and dug up the remains of the late Haurovi Mafuva.
In court he told magistrate Victor Mohamandi he exhumed the remains because he wanted to live with his father.
He further claimed that his father had instructed him to exhume his remains and bury them somewhere else.
The bizarre incident came to light after one of his elder brothers, Paul Zuva visited the family's homestead and discovered that the grave had been tempered with.
Upon being questioned Hove admitted tempering with the grave and told his older brother that he had raised their father from the dead.
Paul later noticed that his younger brother had human bones in his bedroom and notified the police leading to the latter's arrest.
Argatha Gabriel prosecuted.
