Football is regarded as the beautiful game when you are winning and scoring goals . The beautiful game turned ugly to many Zimbabweans as they hoped that the Afcon 2019 was on their side. The day the Warriors crashed out of the continental football  extravaganza the Zimbabweans had many perceptions on what transpired but could not have  an exact answer.

The veteran football gaffer Gibson Homela the former National team coach , had this to say about warriors early Afcon exit and issue of the late John Sibanda howler." The issue of the late John Sibanda , what happened was this as the warriors arrived at the stadium Peter Fanwell disembarked from the bus rushing straight to the changing rooms, " Said the veteran gaffer .

"We were left with 30 minutes for the game to start and  Peter was still locking himself in the bath room  . " We tried to knock  on the door to find out what was the problem he couldn't respond, " he added.

" After a while he came out complaining of  stomach problems saying he can't play and not feeling well. It is how the late John Sibanda was thrown into the first eleven against Congo ," declared Homela

" The warriors early exit  from 2019 Afcon , I think first we need to regulate the leagues where our foreign players are playing if its compatible to international leagues . Our premiership league is declining while the leagues of other  African countries are growing," said the veteran coach .

"It is not the right time to point fingers to each other but let's find a common ground and  way  forward of building our football game . Mistakes happens in the  game of football let's remain  focused," he concluded.

What is needed is to  host a football indaba where all stakeholders can participate . This includes corporate world , ZIFA, SRC, Journalists , Ministry of Sports ,business people , coaches, ex football and current players , supporters association  and players union. This might help to iron out all issues pertaining to the beautiful game to forge ahead.

ZIFA needs  to come clean on  the rumors of corruption and mismanagement. They need to tell the nation about what happened to the ZIFA account which was garnished by the courts. Zifa needs to let the people know about  the  grants they receive from CAF  and FIFA. If the big corporate companies like Delta Econet etc could make there yearly dividends known to the public . ZIFA is a public entity which needs to follow suit for purpose of sanity and progress. The ex football players deserve a quota of representation in ZIFA council. The council need cross pollination of ex football players ,administrators, business mogul and owners of football teams to make it.
