President Mnangagwa is set to participate in the commemoration of Africa Youth Day on November 22, according to Youth Empowerment, Development, and Vocational Training Minister Tino Machakaire.

During a press conference in Harare, Minister Machakaire explained that the event would offer an opportunity for young people to engage in a dialogue with the President. The celebration will gather youth from all ten provinces in the country.

The theme of the Africa Youth Day celebration will align with Agenda 2063's Aspiration 6, focusing on promoting people-driven development with a specific emphasis on youth participation.

The Minister emphasized that the government is committed to enhancing youth involvement in decision-making processes. Initiatives are underway, such as establishing special youth economic zones, providing digital skills training programs, intensifying training programs with a production focus, offering financial support to youth-led businesses, creating workspaces for youth businesses, and establishing a youth volunteer corps.

Minister Machakaire stressed the importance of placing young people at the core of national development and decision-making strategies, aiming to address issues that positively impact the livelihoods of youth, job creation, and industrial growth.

The African Union also recognized the vital role young people play in the development of their countries and the continent as a whole.

Neville Mavhu, the Child President, urged the government to increase the budget of the Empowerment Bank to facilitate youth projects and self-employment. He also called on the youth to abstain from drug and substance abuse and instead focus on innovation and development.

Tendai Mapamba encouraged young people not to leave the country but to contribute to its development through various projects, in line with the guiding philosophy advocated by President Mnangagwa.
