Dongfeng Trucks, a new entrant in the truck supplier market in Zimbabwe, made its debut at the ADMA AgriShow held at Art Farm in Pomona, Harare. This introduction comes through partnerships with major dealerships Croco Motors and Duly Trucks.

According to Mr. Wayne Chingwena, director of Croco Motors, establishing a dealership agreement necessitates meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that dealers are well-equipped and staff are adequately trained.

Dongfeng Trucks aims to cater to various industries including construction, agriculture, infrastructure development, city councils, rural district councils, manufacturing, and retail.

During the launch, an intriguing historical tidbit was shared - the first Dongfeng truck arrived in Zimbabwe in the 1970s, playing a role in the nation's fight for independence. Since then, Dongfeng has experienced significant growth, distributing over 60 million units worldwide and providing engines and axles to prominent Chinese automakers like Shacman, Howo, and Yutong.

Mr. Chingwena highlighted the company's commitment to global expansion, with plans to invest over US$60 billion in the overseas market over the next three years.

The launch event saw the presence of representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Harare, the Chinese Chamber of Business, and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, underscoring the strong bilateral ties and shared vision for Zimbabwe's development.
