Senator Tshabangu's camp celebrates party funds disbursement

The faction led by Sengezo Tshabangu within the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is celebrating the government's decision to allocate political party funds to their group.
This move comes after Tshabangu's faction, in competition with a group associated with former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa, demanded a portion of the funds distributed under the Political Parties (Finances) Act.
This act enables state funding for political parties with representation in parliament.
Tshabangu's faction has been pressing for access to these funds since he took control of the CCC from Chamisa.
Reports suggest that Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi has confirmed the government's intention to allocate the funds to Tshabangu's group.
Albert Mhlanga, a member of Tshabangu's faction, expressed satisfaction with this development, citing the overdue release of funds, which had impacted the party's operations.
The Chamisa faction had previously claimed rightful ownership of the funds, leading to a dispute with the government. However, the government's decision to withhold disbursement was linked to the ongoing ownership dispute within the CCC.
Tshabangu's assumption of the interim secretary-general role last year, followed by his takeover of the party from Chamisa, further escalated tensions.
His actions, including the recall of CCC legislators and officials, prompted Chamisa to leave the party.
Tshabangu has refuted claims of being a Zanu-PF proxy despite allegations from critics.
