The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) is moving forward with plans to modernize border posts, including Chirundu, Victoria Falls, and Forbes, aiming to streamline business operations and facilitate regional and international trade.

Zimra's Commissioner for Customs and Excise, Mr Batsirai Chadzingwa, outlined these efforts during a media training program in Masvingo, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure upgrades to enhance service delivery.

Drawing from the successful modernization of Beitbridge Border Post, Zimra has recommended incorporating additional infrastructure to accommodate technological advancements, such as drone technology, for surveillance purposes. This proactive approach aligns with Zimra's digitization program, aiming to improve border security and curb illicit activities.

Mr. Chadzingwa highlighted the positive impact of modernization on service delivery, citing the extended operational hours at Forbes Border Post, now operating 24/7 compared to previous schedules. He also noted an increase in commercial traffic at Forbes, particularly from Beira Port, signaling growing economic activity in the region.
