Zanu-PF Masvingo issues prohibition order to Roy Bhila

The Zanu-PF Masvingo Provincial Disciplinary Committee has issued a Prohibition Order against Member of Parliament Roy Bhila following serious allegations of misconduct. The order, dated December 12, 2024, outlines three charges against Bhila, which the committee believes violate the party's Constitution and bring the party into disrepute.
The first charge stems from an address given by Bhila at a public meeting regarding service delivery and operations at Chiredzi Town Council. During the meeting, Bhila allegedly made inflammatory remarks, suggesting that Chiredzi Town Council should revert to its original expansion zone and incited the public to undermine government programs. The committee described his remarks as destructive and contrary to the party's objectives of fostering development.
The second charge accuses Bhila of insulting and threatening Mrs. Mabhiza and her husband during a public meeting. The letter alleges that Bhila called Mrs. Mabhiza's husband a "big fool" and "zibenzi chairo," behavior that the committee deemed unprofessional and detrimental to party unity. Zanu-PF's leadership emphasizes discipline and respect among its members, and such language is said to undermine the values of family solidarity and discourages members from participating in party activities.
The third charge relates to an incident where Bhila allegedly orchestrated an attack on Timothy Fozokai during a ward rally in Ward 17 of Chiredzi North. Bhila's team is said to have attacked Fozokai, causing physical harm. The case was reported to the District Intelligence Officer (DIO), but not to the police, as the complainant respected the party. Additionally, Bhila's team is accused of attacking W. Foromera, a youth member, at the Judea Manjirenji turn-off in May 2024. These actions, the committee states, are violations of the party's Constitution and are not condoned by the party.
In response to these serious charges, the Zanu-PF Masvingo Provincial Disciplinary Committee has placed Bhila under a 21-day prohibition, effective from December 12, 2024. This means Bhila will cease to act in any capacity within the party until the committee makes a final determination. A hearing has been scheduled for December 18, 2024, at 9:00 AM at the Zanu-PF Masvingo Provincial Offices.
Bhila has been informed of his rights under the party's Constitution, including his right to be represented by a legal practitioner of his choice. Zanu-PF's Masvingo Provincial Disciplinary Committee chairman, T. M. Mugabe, has made it clear that the party will not tolerate behavior that undermines its principles and image.
This development marks a significant moment for Zanu-PF in Masvingo, as the party looks to uphold its internal discipline and ensure that all members adhere to the values set out in its Constitution.
