President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed Zanu-PF Hwedza North Member of Parliament, Advocate Itayi Ndudzo, as the new Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Province. The appointment follows the removal of Apollonia Munzverengwi from the position.
Advocate Ndudzo, a seasoned legal expert, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Besides serving as a Zanu-PF legislator, he is the parliamentary legal committee chairperson and a partner at Mutamangira & Associates, a leading law firm in Harare headed by Farai Mutamangira. Ndudzo is also an Associate of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), highlighting his expertise in mediation and dispute resolution.
With a strong reputation as a litigator, Ndudzo specialises in various areas of law, including land, corporate, administrative, immigration, mining, labour, and constitutional matters. His legal acumen and leadership within the party have positioned him as a key figure in the Zanu-PF structure.
The appointment is expected to strengthen governance in Mashonaland East Province, where Ndudzo will now oversee provincial affairs and devolution efforts. His extensive background in law and governance could play a pivotal role in advancing the province's development agenda.
Ndudzo's new role comes amid ongoing efforts by the government to enhance service delivery and development through devolution, a strategy aimed at empowering provinces with more resources and decision-making authority. As Mashonaland East navigates its economic and social challenges, Ndudzo's appointment is seen as a significant step in bolstering leadership and policy implementation in the region.
The announcement reflects Mnangagwa's continued focus on reshaping provincial leadership to align with his administration's broader development goals.
