Bulawayo Chiefs Football Club has announced the resignation of head coach Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe, who has stepped down to focus on his family commitments in Harare.

In a statement released by the club, Jongwe tendered his resignation after recently taking a leave of absence to care for his ailing wife. The club expressed its full understanding and support of his decision to prioritise his family during this challenging period. Assistant coach Bekithemba "SaMaNdloe" Ndlovu will take over as interim head coach.

"Coach Jongwe had recently taken a leave of absence to attend to his wife, who has been unwell for some time now. Understanding the importance of family, the club fully supported his decision to allow him to be closer to his loved ones in Harare," the club said.

After careful deliberation, the club confirmed that it had accepted Jongwe's resignation and wished him well as he moves on to new engagements in his hometown.

"Bulawayo Chiefs FC respects Coach Jongwe's decision and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours. His professionalism and dedication during his time at the club have been deeply appreciated," read the statement.

In response to the vacancy, Bulawayo Chiefs have initiated a transition plan to maintain stability in the technical team. Assistant coach Bekithemba "SaMaNdloe" Ndlovu will take over as interim head coach. He will be supported by Anzlom Ndlovu and Nkosiyazi Ncube until further notice.

The club urged supporters to stand behind the interim coaching team during this transitional phase.

"We call on all our supporters and stakeholders to continue rallying behind the team and our technical staff as we work to maintain strong performances on the pitch."

Coach Jongwe's resignation marks the end of a chapter for the Chiefs, who credited him for his contributions and leadership during his tenure.
