Driver's Baby Quantum stolen at high speed
4 hrs ago | Views

In a scene reminiscent of a crime thriller, a 30-year-old commuter omnibus driver from Nguboyenja had his Toyota Baby Quantum stolen right under his nose on Sunday night.
The driver had stopped outside Food For Less, at the corner of 11th Avenue and Herbert Chitepo, around 8:30 PM to get change - leaving the vehicle running. The thief, quietly seated in the front passenger seat, seized the opportunity to make a swift getaway with the engine still running.
The stolen vehicle, registration number AHA 0109, is valued at approximately US$13,500 and was last seen heading toward Plumtree.
"Leaving your vehicle running is extremely risky," cautioned Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele. "We strongly advise against it. Criminals are always watching."
The driver pursued the thief using a hired taxi, but the suspect vanished into the night.
Police are urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the recovery of the vehicle and arrest of the suspect.
For now, Bulawayo's streets remain vulnerable to opportunistic car thieves exploiting brief moments of carelessness.
