Two security guards, Daniel Moyana and Selinah Moyana, have been arrested and charged with contempt of court after allegedly breaching a High Court order by forcibly halting operations at a quarry mine in Mutare.

The incident occurred last week at Jourbet Crushers and Transport Private Ltd, located at Sheerluck Mine in Fern Valley, Mutare. According to reports, the two guards, who reside at 10km peg along the Mutare-Chimanimani Road, allegedly stormed the quarry and stopped all operations, prompting the company's director, Mr. Andries Hendrick Joubert, to report the matter to the police.

During their court appearance before Mutare magistrate Mr. Tendai Mahwe, Daniel and Selinah Moyana were not legally represented and were not required to enter a plea. They were released on bail set at US$50 each, with the case remanded to June 25 for further proceedings.

Prosecutor Mrs. Sharon Mlambo told the court that the accused are charged under Section 182(2)(e) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act (Chapter 9:23), which covers contempt of court. This relates to their alleged violation of a High Court order (HCMTC94/25) issued by the Mutare High Court on May 14, 2025.

Mrs. Mlambo explained, "On May 16, 2025, Daniel Moyana and Selinah Moyana attended Sheerluck Mine and halted the company's operations, thereby contravening the court order. The accused persons acted unlawfully."

The case is set for continuation in late June as the judicial process unfolds.
