Artwell Ndlovu (32), the Sizinda man accused of killing his older brother, Abbie Ndlovu (40), has been arrested in a dramatic takedown by police in Pumula South after days on the run.
According to Bulawayo police, the arrest followed a high-speed foot chase that ended with Artwell being tackled by a police dog just metres from his suspected hideout.
"He was spotted from a distance and immediately tried to flee. He jumped over durawalls, but our canine unit was too quick for him," said police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele.
The arrest followed the gruesome discovery made on the morning of 30 May when the brothers' father walked into the family home in Sizinda and found Abbie's lifeless body lying in a pool of blood.
"He had multiple stab wounds and a broken arm," said Insp Msebele. "An ambulance confirmed him dead at the scene."
Detectives launched an intensive manhunt, and days later, a tip-off led them to a relative's house in Pumula South where Artwell was believed to be hiding. Police recovered his blood-stained clothes outside the home, but the suspect had already fled the scene.
Shortly after, officers spotted him nearby, triggering a frantic chase through backyards and over fences.
"He tried to outrun justice, but it caught up with him," said a CID officer who helped make the arrest.
Artwell is now in custody and expected to appear in court in the coming days to face murder charges. The motive behind the deadly altercation remains under investigation.
Police are using the case as a grim reminder to the public.
"We urge people not to resort to violence. Do not take the law into your own hands—find peaceful ways to resolve disputes," said Insp Msebele.
The tragic incident has shocked the Sizinda community, leaving residents in disbelief over the fatal fallout between siblings.
