Highlanders sack Kelvin Kaindu

Highlanders Football Club has parted ways with head coach Kelvin Kaindu, ending his third spell in charge, following a string of disappointing results in the 2025 Premier Soccer League campaign.
In an official statement released on Monday, the club cited the recent streak of unsatisfactory results as the main reason behind the decision.
Kaindu was appointed in December 2023 and guided the team to an eighth-place finish in his first season back. However, halfway through the current league season, Highlanders sit in ninth place, having won just five of 17 matches, with eight draws and four losses. They trail league leaders Simba Bhora by 12 points in the title race.
The club confirmed that former assistant coach Try Ncube will step in as caretaker manager, supported by Agent Sawu, a member of the backroom staff.
"The club wishes coach Kaindu the best in his future endeavours and thanks him for his contribution during his time of service," the statement read.
Kaindu, a former player for Highlanders in 1997, previously served as the club's coach from 2012 to 2014 before returning to the helm in late 2023.
Highlanders will look to bounce back when they host high-flying MWOS at Barbourfields Stadium this coming Sunday in a crucial league encounter.
