The accreditation of Zanu-PF delegates for the party's 22nd Annual People's Conference has officially begun, with preparations underway for a conference that will place strong emphasis on the state of the economy.

The conference, scheduled to run from October 13 to 18 at the Mutare Polytechnic Pavilion Grounds, will kick off with Politburo and Central Committee meetings in Harare before shifting to Manicaland. This year, a leaner number of delegates is expected, reflecting a focus on economic issues.

In an interview, Zanu-PF spokesperson  Christopher Mutsvangwa said the registration process started yesterday, with party organs and provincial representatives actively engaged in preparations. "We are currently here at Zanu-PF headquarters, witnessing a flurry of activity as delegates arrive for the registration process. From here, the focus will expand to the provinces as anticipation builds for the party conference in Manicaland next week," he said.

Mutsvangwa emphasised that the conference provides a platform for consolidating the party's 2023 electoral mandate and reviewing progress made under the Second Republic. He highlighted President Mnangagwa's achievements, noting that key resolutions from the previous Bulawayo conference have been addressed, and that rising exports now exceed imports.

National Chairman  Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri confirmed that the venue is ready, with minor finishing touches remaining. She said the programme includes several high-profile projects to be commissioned by President Mnangagwa, including the Mega Market milling plant, GMB silos, and the National Pharmaceutical warehouse at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital. A tree-planting ceremony at the site of the new party offices is also planned.

Additionally, delegates will have the opportunity to tour the Chimoio Liberation War Shrine in Mozambique, with provincial schedules coordinated between Zimbabwean and Mozambican officials.

The conference will run under the theme: "Attainment of Vision 2030 through economic empowerment and value addition", reflecting the party's commitment to economic development and national growth.
