Police have arrested two men from Ushewokunze in Harare for allegedly kidnapping and unlawfully detaining a 14-year-old girl who had run away from home after a domestic dispute.
The teenager reportedly fled her parents' home in fear of being punished for allegedly taking US$6 from her father's wallet. Her mother had threatened to discipline her, prompting the young learner to leave in distress.
While wandering, the girl encountered a friend who was in the company of Bradwell Hokota (21) and Munashe Zirikwa (19), both residents of Langford Crest Breeders Farm in Ushewokunze. The two men allegedly took the girl to their home, where she spent the night.
After realising her daughter was missing, the girl's mother filed a police report, leading to the swift arrest of the suspects.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the arrests, saying investigations were ongoing.
"Police have apprehended two men in connection with the kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl," said Inspector Chakanza.
Authorities have since urged parents and guardians to handle domestic disputes involving minors with care to prevent such incidents.
