DYNAMOS have signalled the start of a new era after completing the signing of former Democratic Republic of Congo youth international Isaac Landu, in the midst of a sweeping rebuilding exercise at the Harare giants.
The move comes after a crippling exodus of senior talent since the turn of the year, which saw the core of their Chibuku Super Cup-winning squad depart. Out of last season's roster, the club retained just over a dozen players, leaving gaping holes in the starting XI.
Key departures include former captain Emmanuel Jalai, vice-captain Temptation Chiwunga, goalkeeper Prince Tafiremutsa, Vusa Ngwenya, and Felix Hammond, all pivotal in securing DeMbare's third consecutive Chibuku Super Cup title. In the wake of these exits, midfielder Shadreck Nyahwa is widely expected to inherit the captain's armband. Despite speculation linking him with a move to Hardrock, Nyahwa returned to training this week and looks set to honour his contract, which runs until December 31.
Other familiar faces staying at the club include goalkeeper Tatenda Makoni, Clive Mandivei, Leeroy Mavunga, Junior Perezo, and Jairosi Kasondo. However, it is the influx of new signings that has captured attention. A club source confirmed that over 20 players have been recruited, many through a trial process. "In terms of talent, I think we have managed to assemble a very good side which can compete for honours this season," the source said.
The spotlight is firmly on Isaac Landu, a centre-back who reportedly captained the DRC Under-21 side last year. Despite his high profile, Landu remains something of a mystery, with little information publicly available about his previous clubs. He will be joined by newcomers including Perfect Chikwende, Trevor Mavhunga, Jordan Pedra, Collin Mujuru, Stanley Billiat, Barnabas Mtuche, Mandlenkosi Mlilo, Anotidaishe Gwatidzo, Philip Gweva, Junior Mutenheri, Courage Bera, and Witness Shave. Former Chicken Inn winger Callum Brown is also on trial, hoping to earn a place in the final roster.
The new-look Dynamos will face an early test of their credentials in a charity match against arch-rivals Highlanders on February 15 in Bulawayo, followed by a high-stakes encounter with league champions Scottland FC in the season-opening Castle Challenge Cup.
Off the pitch, the overhaul continues with the return of head coach Genesis Mangombe and the reinstatement of Vincent Chawonza as executive chairman. Chawonza has promised a commercial facelift, including new kits and sponsors, expected to be unveiled soon.
