President Mugabe blasts those who were against Dr Amai's rallies

PRESIDENT Mugabe today took a swipe at party officials who were opposed to his wife's much hyped ‘Meet The People Rallies' which redirected the party's leadership wrangle saying there was nothing wrong for Grace Mugabe to assume leadership positions in the party.

Ever since the First Lady stirred the Hornet's nest by attacking Zanu PF officials and spilling top secrets linked to some party big wigs including her husband's deputy Joice Mujuru, President Mugabe decided to take a silent diplomacy as the Zanu PF drama which is likely to end like a photo shoot at the party's December Congress unfolded.

Addressing Zanu PF supporters who had converged at the party headquarters prior to the crunch politburo meeting scheduled for tonight when the party is dogged by factional fights, Mugabe who had hitherto been silent about Zanu PF squabbles until yesterday charged that his wife had the right to address party supporters since she was legitimately nominated to lead the Women's Wing.

"Madzimai pachavo ndovakati toda kuti amai vatitungamirire, chakaipa chii?"  (The women in the party willingly endorsed Grace Mugabe to lead them so what is wrong," quizzed Mugabe in a veiled way of shielding her wife from her perceived foes in the party.

Mugabe also chided Jabulani Sibanda – a victim of the mini-demo organized his disgruntled ex-combatants today to protest against him and Mujuru for insulting First Lady Grace Mugabe and plotting to topple President Mugabe respectively.

"…Ndimi munonzi makamutengera mota akazopihwa dzimwe shanu kubva kuna vaButau… abva anamata vakamupa…," Mugabe said apparently referring to the war vets boss.

The looming Politburo meeting is expected to be volatile as the two factions led by VP Joice Mujuru and Justice Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa attempts to steal the show ahead of the party's congress which is likely going to be a derby between the two rival leaders positioning to succeed Africa's oldest ruler Mugabe.
