A Mutasa tout who could not control his sexual desire to the extent of unashamedly raping his young brother's wife (16) will languish in prison for the next 18 years.
Letford Mandiwanza (26) of Bvute Village will, however, spend 15 years behind bars after Rusape regional magistrate Mr Lingstone Chipadza suspended three years on condition of good behaviour.
Mandiwanza, who fled to Mozambique after committing the offence, was not represented and was denying the offence saying he was framed by his young brother.
Rusape area prosecutor Mr Tirivanhu Mutyasira told the court that Mandiwanza, a married man, raped his young brother wife's despite him being a short distance away.
"On 24 December 2014 the complainant was ferrying some bricks in the company of her husband, from their parents' homestead to their new homestead.
Accused person approached complainant's husband asking for some tobacco and his young brother sent complainant to go into the house and give accused person the tobacco.
"Accused person followed the complainant to the house leaving his young brother ferrying the bricks. Whilst in the house, the complainant gave the accused person the tobacco and when she was about to go outside, the accused person grabbed the complainant and hit her on the neck before proceeding to rape her.
The complainant later told her mother and her husband that the accused person raped her and a police report was made,'' he said.
In sentencing Mandiwanza, Mr Chipadza had no kind words for him describing his actions as unacceptable at all saying that was why some sections of the society were now calling for life sentences for rapists.
