A Lawyer has pleaded with the courts to issue warrant of arrest for Chief Fortune Charumbira who has absconded court hearings on seven different occasions.
Martin Mureri of Matutu and Kwirirai Associates s asked Magistrate Langton Ndokera to subpoena Charumbira.
Chief Charumbira is a complainant in case where he is accusing Ruzi Hasha of Village 16B in Mushandike of insulting him at a meeting held at Mushandike Area in 2011.
However, Hasha has come to court on seven different occasions for his trial but Chief Charumbira has not showed up and he gave numerous excuses including that he was away on State business or he was out of the country.
The matter was supposed to be heard again last week but Chief Charumbira did not turn up.
Hasha is facing a charge of disorderly conduct. He allegedly called Chief Charumbira, a 'dubious and illegitimate chief hailing from Zambia', while at an environmental conservation meeting held at Village 6B in Mushandike Resettlement area.
Hasha was immediately arrested by a Police officer at the meeting and whisked away to Masvingo Central Police Station allegedly on the orders of Chief Charumbira.
The last time the matter came to court, it was before Magistrate Tafadzwa Mhlanga who undertook to throw away the case or issue a warrant of arrest against Chief Charumbira because of his continuous absence from court.
Hasha said his rights were being violated by being continuously summoned to court when the complainant in the case was not showing up.
