Zanu-PF Mashonaland West provincial executive committee yesterday reportedly grilled provincial finance secretary Dexter Nduna over use of party funds after he allegedly presented "an unconvincing financial report".

Party sources said tempers flared after Nduna failed to give them copies of the report in advance.

Nduna is said to have told the meeting that most of the money raised by the province had been spent on preparations for the Hurungwe West by-election last year, where Zanu-PF candidate Keith Guzah triumphed over former MP Temba Mliswa, who contested as an independent.

The committee agreed to forward the report to the provincial co-ordinating committee for further scrutiny.
