A TRADITIONAL HEALER was dragged to maintenance court by his girlfriend claiming $300 for the upkeep of their minor child.
Loveness Kadawo was demanding $300 for the upkeep of their child accusing Dallyson Mwenje of neglect.
"Your worship, l do menial jobs for a living like doing laundry for other people and l realise about $200 per month which is not enough for me and my child because apart from that l have other people that l take care of.
"The children need $70 for food and groceries, $50 for rent, $30 for medication, $80 for clothes and blankets and $30 for electricity and water bills therefore my earnings are not enough for all these expenses," said Loveness.
Dallyson, who offered $20, said: "Your worship I don't see the reason of paying maintenance because every month I give her $25 for the upkeep of our child, currently am not working.
"I am an old and sick man, l spend much of my money on hospital bills and l have a large family to take care of and currently my major wife is not employed, this one is my girlfriend, therefore l don't think l can afford to pay the $300 that she wants."
Loveness refused to take the $20 offer from Dallyson saying that it was not enough and she denied that he is not employed.
"Your worship my husband is lying, he is a qualified member of the ZINATHA and he realises about $1000 a month, if you come to his place you will find a large crowd of people waiting to be served," she said.
In response, Dallyson dismissed that he is a traditional healer.
Magistrate Yeukai Dzuda, who presided over the matter, ordered Loveness to get proof that shows that Dallyson is really a traditional healer.
