2 teachers in court for indecent assault

TWO Mutero High School teachers in Gutu appeared in court last week facing charges of indecently assaulting two female pupils they had offered a lift.
Appearing before Gutu magistrate Mr Nyasha Vhitorini, Rangarirai Zvenyika (30), of Shonhiwa Village, Chief Nyamande, Gutu and Nicholas Govo (35), of Chief Mutema, Gutu, pleaded not guilty to the charges of aggravated indecent assault as defined under Section 4(1) of Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.
The duo was remanded in custody to today.
For the State, Ms Agatha Gabriel said on 31 May at around 2pm two Mutero High School girls, all aged 16 years, were walking from Dewure High School grounds towards Dewure Business Centre along the tarred road when Zvenyika and Govo arrived in a Mazda 626 vehicle being driven by the latter.
The court heard that the two girls stopped the vehicle asking for a lift to the business centre and the two picked them up and on arrival Govo parked his vehicle near Rufaronasimba shop.
The court further heard that Zvenyika and Govo alighted and ordered the two girls to remain in the vehicle while they got into the shop. When they got into the shop the duo allegedly asked for a room from the shopkeeper and they were offered a single room at the back of the shop.
Zvenyika and Govo allegedly took the schoolgirls to the room where they bought them drinks, chips and biscuits.
While in the room, it is alleged that Zvenyika sat next to one of the girls while Govo also sat next to the other .
It is alleged that the two started fondling the girls with Zvenyika allegedly going to the extent of sucking his victim's breasts and inserting his finger in her private parts after he had forcibly unbuttoned her blouse and unzipped his trousers.
Govo was allegedly caressing the other girl but could not insert his fingers into her private parts because Zvenyika's alleged victim had started making noise.
On realising that the girls were now making noise, Zvenyika and Govo allegedly stopped what they were doing to them. The schoolgirls stormed out of the room and went to school where they made a report to the headmaster who summoned the two teachers before reporting to Gutu police, leading to their arrest.
