Minister of Provincial Affairs Matabeland South Abednico Ncube brewed a shocker in Gwanda on Saturday when he unrealisedly confessed in public that he corruptly aided the release of an arrested person in Gwanda recently.

Ncube was addressing mourners at the funeral of wife to chief Mbiko Masuku's senior advisor (umlisa) Ramsey Nkala. Addressing mourners, Ncube said the last time he had an encounter with the deceased was when she called him to help her seek release of her arrested son from Gwanda police custody recently.

Reports confirmed with an officer at the Zimbabwe Republic Police in Gwanda are that the deceased's son was arrested for drunken and negligent driving and driving without a driver's licence in the town recently. According to the reports the wife of the chief's advisor tried to negotiate the release of her son to no avail until she phoned the Minister to come to her rescue.

According to the officer the son was released from custody after the Minister came to the police station and organised the accused's release with senior police officers.

"The last time I met the deceased was a week before her death. She called me deep into the night when her son had a problem at Gwanda police and I rushed to help and it did not take time before I got the boy back to her," Ncube said proudly.

"I was shocked last week when I heard the news of her unexpected passing on, may she rest in peace," said Ncube before ending his address.

Ncube's "confession" come hot on the heels of massive corruption reports making runs around the country. Last night the ZANU PF politiburo the party's most senior decision making body in which Ncube sits had a long meeting stretching deep into the night discussing the corruption that is ruining the country.

President Robert Mugabe is reported to have taken a heavy swipe at his party's members particularly senior members and threatening them with arrest if any of them are heard to be involved any form corruption activities.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police and Zimbabwe's Judiciary are amongst the sectors pointed out as the most corrupt in the country with a number of suspects and criminals finding their way off the justice hook after corruptly buying themselves out of custody.
