Magaya was offside, we need a policy direction

13 Jun 2017 at 19:10hrs | Views
A policy is legal framework which is designed to provide direction of every organization. The greatest problem we have as a nation is lack of policy consistency. As we speak we get to a level where we don't even know where we are going as a nation. Failure to have a policy framework on some areas which contribute to our economy is a sign of failure on the part of the system. Chiyangwa promised people heaven on earth when he was campaigning for ZIFA presidency but as we speak little progress has been made. One of our major challenge as a nation is to have people like Magaya to be hero worshipped just because they have done well to the nation. Whilst it is not disputable that Magaya did a good thing to sponsor warriors but he should not use that as a tool to abuse people. There was no need for Mapeza to attend his church service because he was the main sponsor. There is no need for one person to be giving conditions to the warriors just because he was sponsoring them, such behaviour tantamount to abuse in future. Whilst we agree in principle that honestly Magaya did a good thing to assist the warriors in times of need but it was not his duty to give conditions to the warriors on how they should conduct themselves, that is the duty of the employer (ZIFA). When people operate state institutions without proper frameworks, then the recipients are subject to abuse by common people.

Chiyangwa Should Disclose Zifa Sponsorship

Everyone is wondering how ZIFA is surviving in this country given the situations that they are going through. Chiyangwa led ZIFA inherited a serious debt of which they are failing to clear. My question who is funding ZIFA? We have a real problem in this country because the moment you ask questions you become an enemy of such institutions. The last we heard is that ZIFA owes its creditors 6 million United States dollars. My question is what is the plan to clear such a big debt? This is an obvious thing that Chiyangwa won't be able to clear that debt using money from his pocket. My question who is funding this organization? We don't believe in feja feja but we believe in open door policy in all Government institutions were public funds are involved.

National Team Coach Should Receive a Government Salary

The problem is there are some people who want to be worshipped which leaves the coach with no option but to have his job compromised with a lot of conflict interest. To curb such challenges the Zimbabwean Government should give Mapeza a full contract. I suggest this should be ratified by an act of parliament. If you look at countries like Zambia, national team coaches are employed by the state and this provides independent system which will not be compromised. In the past we had a situation where the coach would receive bribes from players in order for them to secure their jerseys in the national team.

Where Are the Funds from the Zim-Libera Game?

ZIFA should tell us how much they got from the Sunday match and what did they use the money for? Last time when Chiyangwa was asked such questions on interview he became very emotional. Chiyangwa needs to be reminded that ZIFA is a public institution and it demands accountability. Each and every cent from ZIFA should be accountable to the public.

Zifa Should Be Seperated from National Politics

We have a problem when someone uses state powers to bull doze his way into things that he wants. We have heard people being threatened with unspecified actions for questioning accountability at ZIFA which is very wrong and it will set a bad precedence in our country, moreover it will tarnish the image of our beloved nation. Chiyangwa and team should know that ZIFA is not a private institution or it's not a private business but rather it is a public institution which should be criticised and he should allow public scrutiny to take its place. These are some of the things that investors look at before committing their resources.

Zifa Needs a Corporate Sponsorship Not Individual Sponsorship

Jonathan Moyo was very right to say ZIFA need corporate sponsorship not individual sponsorship to avoid bull dozing and individualism in state institutions. Previously we have seen coaches being insulted with the likes of Chivayo and others who's wealthy is still a subject of scrutiny. This issue of sponsoring big institutions like ZIFA by individuals promotes corruption mainly because such people want to cover up their looting by sponsoring such institutions. Chiyangwa should work hard to correct this problem. If you look at the current situation where Magaya is accusing Mapeza for not attending his scheduled programme at his premises shows lack of professionalism on the part of the sponsor and the employer. National team needs proper sponsorship to avoid embarrassing situations like the one we had in Malawi when our players travelled by road. This is the time ZIFA should protect the integrity of the country.
