Zimbabweans must ignore Geza's signal to give the swapping of yet another set of dictators political legitimacy

3 hrs ago | Views
Jeremiah Masawi aka Nyoka Yamabhunu, the self-appointed spokesperson of Blessed Geza and company, is just a rabble-rouser with no clue why Zimbabwe is a failed state much less what should be done to get the nation out of the mess.

Indeed, by seeking to replace Mnangagwa with Chiwenga, the Geza revolution be perpetuating the dictatorship and not to end. Only an idiot would view this as a solution to the nation's need for meaningful democratic and economic change.

After 45 years of rigged elections and the nation up to our eyes in s***t, the consequences of decades of failed state, one would have thought the tragic human suffering has forced Zimbabweans to seek real solutions to the nation's political and economic crisis. Those who thought the penny had dropped in 2017 were disappointed to see how easily Zimbabweans were conned.

Zimbabweans camed out in the hundreds of thousands in answer to call to show their support of the 2017 military coup, even though it was clear the coup was to swap Mugabe for Mnangagwa, one dictator for another. The people had failed to remove Mugabe from office after 37 years because elections were rigged. The people were so desperate to see the back of Mugabe at any and all cost. They did not have a say on coup itself their folly was coming out on the street to demonstrate their public support of the coup. They should not have done so, particularly when they know the coup would only replace one dictator with another.

Mnangagwa got into power on the back of a military coup, the people were called upon to rubber stamp the coup and the swap of one dictator for the other. To remain in office Mnangagwa has blatantly rigging the 2018 and 2023 elections, contrary to his promise to hold free, fair and credible elections.

On the economic front, Mnangagwa has failed to revive the national economy. He has failed to stamp out corruption and mismanagement because he could not end the political patronage system designed to reward an individual's blind loyalty to him, as party leader, regardless of his/her competence in performing the task in hand. He could not dismantle the patronage system and expect to hang on to his own position as Zanu PF leader- such is the influence of the patronage system.

When Blessed Geza and his war veteran friends denounce Mnangagwa and his regime as corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs; they were stating the obvious.

"This idea that Mnangagwa must stay in power until 2030, beyond his 2028 term limit, to delivery Vision 2030; is bulls**t!" said Blessed Runesu Geza, to universal public acclaim.

Geza and company have made it clear they want VP Chiwenga to takeover from Mnangagwa. Chiwenga is no a stranger to the people of Zimbabwe, they know that he is a Zanu PF thug through and through. He has played his part in the creation and imposition of the Zanu PF dictatorship all these 45 years, notably in the 2008 Operation Mavhotera Papi, where the people were punished for daring to reject Zanu PF in the March vote and he was the one who gave the order to carry out the 15th November 2017 military coup.

Chiwenga, like all the other Zanu PF chefs, has enjoyed his lion's share of the spoils of power; he retired from the Army as commander to take up the state Vice President post following the 2017 coup. He is not just rich, he is filthy rich; he has many farms, properties and business interests, a fleet of posh cars, 45 gold-watches, etc.

In replacing Mnangagwa with Chiwenga the nation will be swapping one corrupt, incompetent and murderous dictator for another! In 2017 the nation swap Mugabe for Mnangagwa and we all KNOW that did not end the corrupt, the tyranny, etc.

We should have insisted on the more substantive change of ending the dictatorship and rejected the meaningless swapping of one dictator for another! Have we learned the lesson from the 2017 fiasco?

Geza and company are working on their follow Zanu PF members to switch their backing from Mnangagwa to Chiwenga. This is not a difficult task since most member can see Mnangagwa is, indeed, corrupt and incompetent. His flagship Vision 2030, upper middle income status, is a lead balloon that will never fly.
Mnangagwa will have to rig the referendum, if he chooses to amend the constitution to extend his stay in power beyond the maximum two term limits. On the other hand if Chiwenga is the party presidential candidate for 2028 elections; he will have to rig the elections. Rigging the referendum/elections will be a tough challenge and getting away with it will be even tougher, especially now that both SADC and AU have condemned the 2023 Zimbabwe elections as flawed and illegal.

So one can well imagine why Geza & Co. would want ordinary Zimbabweans to come out in their hundreds of thousands in support of the Chiwenga faction. The group will publicly or in private be reaching out to the opposition promising them a new GNU, official opposition leader and shadow cabinet post, etc. to make sure they con their supporters answer the signal in their millions!

Central to the so called Geza revolution is that Chiwenga will replace Mnangagwa.

By supporting the plan to swap Mugabe for Mnangagwa in 2017, Zimbabweans forfeited the chance to demand far reaching democratic reforms to end the Zanu PF dictatorship. We must not repeat the same mistake!
Geza & Co. will be desperate to see Zimbabweans in the street in answer to his signal, for once the people must resist being conned to give the swapping of Mnangagwa with Chiwenga political legitimacy. Let us put an end to this political insanity!
