African Leaders don't respect the meaning of African Day

25 May 2015 at 04:54hrs | Views
Today is a significant day for Zimbabwe and indeed for Africa as a whole as we celebrate Africanness  and thus uniqueness.
It is on such a day we also celebrate our icons, the late Father Zimbabwe, Jomo Kenyata and a host of African leaders who led the fight to end white domination.

Ideally our liberators dreams of a just and free society where everyone is equal and where opportunities would be there in abundance for all to grab. But like morning fog those dreams vanished as the former freedom fighters turned into selfish tyrants - interested only in the primitive accumulation of wealth and returning power at all costs.

Africa our beloved continent is bleeding, dreams of its people slain as wars and epidemics continue to ravage our beloved countries while those entrusted to lead turn a blind eye.

Democracy, has thus remained a pipe dream incapable of vindication as those in power employ things they would have considered appalling in the past  to hang on to power.

In Zimbabwe, this country with intelligent people, abundant natural resources and great potential the dreams of the youths have been dashed and many are living hard as vendors.
Prized academic qualifications are now meaningless as jobs are hard to come by.

We are trying as MDC T  youths to free ourselves from this tyrant - who oddly is the chairperson of Sadc and the AU - but Mugabe the master rigger has foiled our democratic choices - evidently subverting the will of the people using dictatorial methods.

Many of us here and many more dead bear the scars of the brutal Mugabe's regime, but we will not be demoralized, we will not be cowed because like Chatunga, Bona and all their children we are equal shareholders to this country that has been turned into a huge Mupedzanhamo because of shameless misrule by a few selfish individuals.

Evidently rigging the elections is simple but the economy is something else and believe me our time is coming when we claim what rightfully belongs to us. We are Zimbabwe, we are the present and we are the future and they belong in the past.

As the MDC T youths we will take it on ourselves to free ourselves from Zanu PF misrule because we are convinced that we are our own liberators.

As I write this piece my heart bleeds for our fellow Cde Itai Dzamara who was abducted and has been missing for close to 3 months. His kids n wife long to be with him this Africa day.

It is time my fellow countryman to reclaim this country before these looters loot everything. We are not going to participate in their elections unless if they put in place reforms and if they fail to reform we will push them the rough way into submission.

Long live Zimbabwe, long live Africa long live the youths.

However i wish i could say happy Africa Day Zimbabwe.

Yours sincerely with regard
