Northern Region Soccer league referees not receiving match fee
31 Jul 2019 at 14:22hrs | Views
Editor,
The Northern Region Soccer league has gone from week 9 (June 2019) without paying soccer referees match fees for all matches played despite teams having paid full amounts for referees welfare for the first half of the season.
It is believed the administration used the funds to help fund Zifa's spending in Egypt during Afcon 2019. It is also believed the administration is buying Forex with the money which at later converts back to RTGS dollars when Forex has gained value and they keep the profits.
The referees have threatened not to resume the second round of matches at week 18 before all dues are paid claiming the referees' committee has the knowhow of where their funds were used and as well the Referees Committee hasn't represented the interests of the refs but rather threatens them for raising their heads. Brighton Malandule leads the referees' committee.
Regards
