Lupane State University to hold a fund-raising Dinner in South Africa
17 May 2013 at 10:37hrs | Views
On Saturday, June 1, 2013 Lupane State University (LSU) in Zimbabwe, will hold a fund-raising Dinner at the Birchwood Hotel, in Johannesburg, South Africa at 1800hrs.
LSU was established by an Act of Parliament in 2004 and remains the only tertiary institution in Matabeleland North Province. Given the economic pressures experienced worldwide and indeed conspicuous in our own backyards, Government efforts to provide more resources to support the University have been curtailed. On realising this fact, Government has adopted an open policy that allows development of universities through Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements. As LSU, we are convinced that this is the space and window to be exploited by all progressive stakeholders in partnership with the university.
The main thrust of our fund-raising event is to seek funding through partnerships to facilitate for a full-scale relocation of LSU from Bulawayo to our designated site in Lupane. High on the agenda of our relocation exercise is the provision of accommodation for staff and students and also to ensure that these facilities are equipped with the appropriate amenities to make them functional. Such services include clean water provision; proper sewage disposal and management; provision of energy and power to keep the operations running. These indeed are our anchor projects without which our relocation to site will be greatly compromised.
We have invited high ranking officials in our Government to grace this function and these include:
Hon. Deputy Prime Minister: Ms T. Khupe
Hon. Minister of Mines and Mining Development: Dr O.M. Mpofu
Hon. Minister of Trade and Commerce: Professor W. Ncube
The costs for attending the dinner are as follows;
• R700.00/per person (free sitting)
• R2000.00 for persons willing to share a table with any of our dignitaries
• R15,000.00 Premier (Corporates) table (seats 10, only 4 tables available)
