I'd like to comment on the article on 8000 nursing staff shortage but I'm not sure if this is the right place.
It is sad that the health care systems of the world, and Zimbabwe included, invest so much on the curative and medical practitioners and completely forget there exists the preventive side of the system, which if well invested in, plays a pivotal role in preventing the spread of the very diseases which are, in fact, preventable.
Probably because the Minister of Health and Child Care is a medical doctor health care is biased on nursing staff. How about environmental health technicians? Can something be done about improving disease prevention more than trying to treat the ill? This country needs more environmental health technicians to improve coverage in all the districts and reduce the population of patients in hospitals.
Thank you.
