Highlanders 1 - 0 Wankie
Unstoppable Highlanders burnt Wankie and sent the trash to the coalfields in a tense premiership match played at Barbourfields Stadium today before an impressive attendance seen at Emagumeni in years.
Indeed Highlanders is a team on the roll and they are crushing everything infront of them these days. Tenant Chilumba tried to be mean in defense and his strategy was evidently based on damage control. The coalminers virtually parked the bus in front of Timothy Sibanda. However sleek movement and passing by Bosso ensures fluidity in their passing game and Simon Yola Ncube was out of touch today together with his fellow linkman. A chance fell on Bosso's joint league scorer and with Sowetans already up on their feet, Yola shot agonizingly wide.
Bosso continued probing and their search for an elusive goal proved frustrating as time wore on. Graham Grazo Ncube threaded a through ball between the legs of the central defender and found Heritan Smaller Masuku but he was flat, shooting weakly to the arms of grateful Sibanda.
Wankie continued to frustrate their more illustrious opponents with the likes of David Boriwondo standing firm at the back suffocating their wing play. On Few occasions their counter attacking seemed to be their hope with heavily built former Zim Leopards star Francis their only hope. He however found Eric 'Airforce' Mudzingwa unyielding.
The two teams came back from the breather with Wankie's tails up. For the first time this season, Bosso failed to score in the first half at Barbourfields and Wankie started believing that it can be done. They became the first team to hold fort at Emagumeni and impatience began to set in on the stands as fans started whistling for the substitution of dependable Yola and Heritan.
All shall be well and Kaindu's words proved to be true as he brought in Masimba Mambare and rookie Anold 'Pungesto' Ndiweni and the black and white machine was revitalised . The Bosso machine began probing with man of the match and man of the Moment Mthulisi Maphosa commanding his midfield like a general. General indeed he is as he took the matter into his own hands trying everything he could to get a winner for Bosso. The gaffer 'KK' brought in the energetic Bevan Chikaka and the chosen one played his cards right as Chikaka became an instant hero with the Bosso multitudes with a well executed header off a Bruce Kangwa curling cross to beat Sibanda all systems out.
Emagumeni came to life, Mthulisi Maphosa spiced it up with some fancy footwork and galloping that reminded many of the late Rambo and the just retired Gift Junior Lunga as the whole stadium broke into song and dance.
Frustration crept into the Wankie camp with their Zambian defender shown a straight red card by referee Mlindeli Ndebele for elbowing Mambare off the ball and the coach Chilumba for poking the assistant referee on the face. The coalfield were set alight, Bosso is a team on the roll.
