Former Highlanders chairman Ernest Maphepha Sibanda, who was disqualified to run for the chairmanship in the club's executive elections, has vowed to attend the annual general meeting slated for this weekend to present his case.

Sibanda argues his disqualification was unlawful as there were only three out of six people attending the nomination court.

He might have been labelled a divisive element by Highlanders chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede, but Maphepha has remained defiant saying he wants his true story to be known by Bosso supporters.

Sibanda insists his disqualification was not procedural and he will attend this weekend's nomination court to present his story.

Maphepha's defiance appears to have rattled the Highlanders board of directors who have urged members to disregard Maphepha's plea.

Board chair Mgcini Nkolomi says Maphepha Sibanda's calls can incite club members and cause commotion during their annual general meeting slated for Sunday.

Sibanda, however, shot back at the board and questioned why they are panicking if they have nothing to hide.

Maphepha is accused of clandestinely selling Obadiah Tarumbwa to Belgium side Cercle Brugge FC in 2008.

On the field of play, however, Sibanda was club manager at a time Highlanders had their best success at the turn of the millennium.

He is also the last chairman to guide Bosso to the league championship in 2006.
