Zimbabwe wrestling federation making progress

The Zimbabwe Wrestling Federation says despite resource constraints bedeviling the sport, they are nevertheless making significant progress with scores of young aspiring wrestlers now part of their vibrant development programme.
Scores of young aspiring wrestlers are now part of the federation's junior development programme aimed at producing wrestlers with the capacity to cope with the rigours associated with the international arena.
Although the federation bemoans the minimal resources at their disposal to develop the sport, Zimbabwe Under 20 Wrestling Coach Edward Dembedza says significant progress has however been made on the development front.
"Although we have financial challenges we are happy with the young talent.
"Some young wrestlers do not have the uniforms but they soldier on.
"We have some wrestlers who are competing on the international arena," said Dembedza.
The Zimbabwe Wrestling Federation will gauge the extent of the progress made in churning out wrestlers of note through participating at the African Cadet and Juniors Championship slated for Madagascar from the 14th to the 17th of June.
The continental championship will be preceded by a local competition next month which will be used to select the national team to represent Zimbabwe in Madagascar.
