Zimbabwe women's football impresses with talent and high-scoring matches
6 hrs ago | Views

Women's football in the Zimbabwe Women Premier Soccer League (ZWPSL) is proving to be not only competitive but also more entertaining than the men's game, showcasing remarkable talent and exciting matches.
This is evident in the high number of goals scored in league matches—there is hardly a game that ends without a goal. Last week, Platinum Royals demolished Buffalo Sports Academy 13-0 in a thrilling display at Vengere Stadium, leaving spectators thoroughly impressed. Platinum Royals are currently topping the league standings.
In another key match, Chapungu Queens maintained second place on the table after defeating Highlanders Royals 4-0. It was a tough outing for Highlanders Royals, who had come into the weekend with momentum after a win the previous week, but suffered back-to-back defeats.
Black Rhinos Queens cruised past Sheasham Gweru Queens with a 7-0 victory, while Kwekwe Queens also enjoyed a good weekend, beating Craneborne Royals 2-0.
Meanwhile, police side Black Mambas Queens were edged 2-1 by Maningi YSA.
Some fixtures did not take place over the weekend due to national team call-ups. ZWPSL board member Arthur Gorejena confirmed the postponements, explaining:
"The rescheduling of matches was due to players being called up to the national team. This was an important decision that prioritizes player development and the success of our national side," said Gorejena.
Results:
Saturday: Red Buffalo 0-13 Platinum Royals, Sheasham 0-7 Black Rhinos Queens, Black Mambas 1-2 Maningi YSA, Highlanders Royals 0-4 Chapungu Queens, Kwekwe Queens 2-0 Cranborne Royals.
Sunday: Conduit Soccer Academy 0-6 Herentals Queens.
