Zimbabwe legends dates Bafana legends

ZIMBABWEAN football legends will clash with their South African counterparts in a friendly match meant to relive and honour their contribution to the game.

The match has tentatively been set for July 20 at Rufaro with the Zimbabwe

Legends expected to return the favour by travelling to South Africa next month.

South Africa are likely to bring on board the class of 1996 that won the Africa Cup of Nations under Clive Barker.  Zimbabwe coach and organiser of the inaugural match, Gibson Homela, has already named his provisional team that is dominated by the Dream Team era faces, among them Madinda Ndlovu, Rahman Gumbo, Willard Khumalo, Paul Gundani, John Phiri, Agent Sawu, Ephraim Chawanda, Moses Chunga and Norman Mapeza.

The list is not the final one but we are saying those called up should confirm their availability with me before the end of next week," said Homela.Bafana Bafana stars such as Doctor Khumalo, Mark Fish, Neil Tovey, Jerry Sikhosana, Andre Arendse, Mark Williams, David Nyathi, Marks Maponyane are expected to be part of the South African legends team.

Bafana Bafana legend Philmon Masinga is handling the negotiations with the Zimbabwean counterparts and confirmed that his 21-member delegation will arrive on July 19.

They will re-kindle their clashes, especially their first international match from isolation when a Peter Ndlovu-led Warriors strikeforce tore them to shreds with a 4-1 demolition at the giant National Sports Stadium in August of 1992.

"We would sincerely like to thank our motherbody, Zifa, for sanctioning the match not also forgetting our corporate partners," said Homela.

Also making it into the Zimbabwe legends squad is Hwange coach Nation Dube, Zenzo Moyo, Ronald Sibanda, Peter "Captain Oxo" Nkomo and Brenna Msiska.
