Zimbabwe Sports Commission irrelevant: MDC-T MP

A LEGISLATOR belonging to the Movement for Democratic Change formation led by Prime Minister Mr Morgan Tsvangirai has said the Zimbabwe Sport Commission is irrelevant as it is "doing nothing."
Addressing the House of Assembly on 22 September this year, Kambuzuma lawmaker – Willias Madzimure said the Sports Commission receives 6% of gross of any money raised the Sports Associations but has done nothing.
"Their responsibility I simply to have an office at the National Sport Stadium, pay salaries and that is all.
"There is nothing else which they are doing. Why did we establish that Commission, we thought the Commission was going to coordinate sport, come up with policies and strategies which will improve sport and offer adviser not interfere.
"You look at the situation of cricket, it could have been very easy to teach the sport to our people, Yes we have Tashinga in Highfields there which has produced cricket players like Tatenda Taibu, but it was not emulate anywhere,' he said.
The MP added that this was supposed to be the "duty" of the Sports Commission to see to it that sport is spread and our catchment area for players is going to be bigger.
