THE late multi-award winning maskandi artist, Mtshengiseni "Indidane" Gcwensa, always boasted about his aim of winning 20 awards by 2016.

Daily Sun reported that Gcwensa died last month with 18 awards to his name. It is now up to his fans to make his wishes come true by voting for him in the two categories he has been nominated for at the upcoming 10th Satmas.

Indidane will be in the running for the best male artist and best maskandi album awards.

In the category of best album, he's contending with his rival, Thokozani Langa.

Indidane's manager Velo Bhengu said they would do anything to ensure that they take home the two awards in Indidane's honour.

"We will do anything to show our loyalty to Indidane. To show our respect to him and his work, we will hold massive voting campaigns. We will go around taxi ranks and use social media to get everyone to vote for him. He played a big role in promoting traditional music. It's only fair that we support his wish to obtain 20 awards by 2016," said Bhengu.

Indidane released 25 albums, many of which reached gold status. Most of his 18 awards were scooped at the Satmas.
