COMEDIAN Carl Joshua Ncube has completed his quest to break the Guinness World Record of Most Comedy Shows in a Week after staging 31 shows at 31 venues over seven days.
Ncube concluded his performances in Victoria Falls on Tuesday with six shows in the resort town.
Yesterday, the comedian, who was stuck at the Vic Falls airport for hours after Air Zimbabwe delayed, said he was in the process of sending coverage and footage of his shows for consideration by the Guinness Book of World Records. If all goes according to plan, Ncube will get a response from the reference book in 12 weeks.
"I'm desperately looking for an Internet Service Provider (ISP) to give me super bandwidth to upload videos, pictures and eyewitness evidence to the Guinness World Records within the next 14 days so they can verify my record," posted Ncube on his Facebook fan page yesterday.
The comedian, who has known no sleep for the past week, performed in South Africa, Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls.
"I'm completely exhausted. I just finished performing 31 stand-up comedy gigs in 31 venues in 7 days. I want to thank everyone of you that came through for me.
"I'm so thankful! #WeBrokeAworldRecord."
Ncube hopes to break a record that is currently held by Australian comedian Mark Murphy, who set the record in 2007 when he staged 30 gigs at 30 venues in seven days all over Australia.
Sadly, Ncube, who wanted to have 35 gigs, only managed to stage 31.
"Initially I wanted to make it 35 shows in a week. I wanted to make it so difficult that the person who'll try to break the world record would think twice. However, 31 wasn't bad," he said.
Tomorrow, if Ncube manages to catch a flight to Uganda today, the comedian will perform at the Africa Laughs comedy show in Uganda with Anne Kansiime and Ndumiso Lindi among other African comedians.
