"Gringo Troublemaker", a new comedy, premières tonight at 7 Arts Theatre in Harare.

The 110-minute film stars Blessing Chimhowa, popularly known to television viewers as "Mbudzi Yadhura", and William Matenga, better known as "Gweshegweshe" from the television drama series "Gringo".

ZiFM presenter Evangelista Mwatse, known in theatre as Eve after her role in Studio 263, makes her debut appearance in the "Gringo" series.

Scriptwriter and producer Enock Chihombori said everything was in place for the première.

"We faced logistical problems here and there, but I am glad to say everything is now in place and we are expecting a spectacular event. What is going to come out is the best quality we can afford and we did not want to rush our product. This time I will not be featuring in the film because the script did not accommodate my character. But 'Mbudzi Yadhura' is in and 'Gringo' like you have never seen him before," he said.

The likes of Agnes Trigy acts as the maid replacing Madhumbe while the main supporting character would be Tapiwa Mapindidze, who plays the role of John. Evangelista would also be featuring in the film as John's girlfriend (Mary).

"The story did not accommodate some of the old characters and we needed new characters for a change. Viewers should not worry since the production is better than what we did before in terms of picture quality, sound and humour. That is the reason we took our time in producing the film," said the Botswana-based Chihombori.

"Gringo has not lost his lustre and all his fans should gear for his best in the film," said Boora.

The film revolves around John, who is a hardworking young man. He wants to show his girlfriend that he is rich and is tempted to consult a witchdoctor for charms to please Mary.

Coincidentally, John meets Gringo who pretends to be a witchdoctor and everything turns upside down.

The movie was edited by Ben Mahaka, who is also one of the executive producers alongside Chihombori.
