SUNGURA and dancehall lovers in Johannesburg will have a choice of entertainment venues to be with two high profiles gigs headlining the weekend entertainment "menu".
Alick Macheso and his full Orchestra Mberikwazvo crew make a return to the cradle of sungura at the Ekurhuleni Boksburg Hotel in a show that will also see the rising Clifford Mutaiki of Orchestra Varaidzo and Livie Macheka battling it out tomorrow night.
After mesmerising the Limpopo fans a few weeks ago, Baba Sharo, as he is fondly known, makes a welcome return to a venue where he is always feted like a king.
A lot will be expected from the dancing duo of Majuice and Kariba who left Thohoyandou fans in awe earlier this month.
The show is the brainchild of Senior Investments and will take place just soon after the annual renovations of the arena.
"We always want to make sure our fans and guests at the hotel are comfortable. We want to set our establishment to be as different from others as possible that is why we undergo such touch ups especially in winter when we hold fewer shows," said hotelier and promoter Rodger Muzawazi.
Tickets for the show are available on Computicket at R200 and will increase by R50 at the gates.
"We are encouraging fans to purchase tickets online as it is easier to administer. We have marketed the show very well and the response we have been getting is overwhelming. All the logistics are in place and fans must come have a good time," said events coordinator Donny Nikisi.
Meanwhile, DJ Charlieban aka Charles Ponde of the One Love Movement will be launching his debut album titled Fruits of Grace.
The 10-track album has various songs such as Turn It Up Loud, I Will Rise Again, Herere Herere and a rendition of Betty Makaya's Kurwizi among others.
He also collaborated with Joburg-based Zim songstress Miz Dee and Nox on some of the tracks.
The first launch will be on tonight (Friday) at the Phoenix Lounge formally known as Bar 9 in Midrand. An array of guest artists is lined up and includes DJ Fanta Jozi, Selectah TeeKay, Thuli Thulz and veteran MC Larry T.
It promises to be a night of serious dancehall entertainment.
The second launch will be in Randburg tomorrow night at Alicats Pub and sound systems such as Hustle Entertainment, African Tribe and Lion Roots Outanational will feature.

Apart from deejaying at various night spots, Charlieban is a qualified artisan who has worked for major dealerships such as VW and Audi in Johannesburg.
