BN: What is the meaning of your name? {group if applicable}:
GB: Gee Brandon was derived from my real name Brandon Guzha. The "Gee" prefixing the "Brandon" was just my way of creating some level of uniqueness in my performing name; since I foresee my self reaching dizzy international heights musically
BN: How did you get involved in music?
GB: I was a Grade 10 pupil in Johannesburg, South Africa During lunch time hours my friends and I would hang together, beat boxing giving each other turns to rap. We then did a demo recording of a song and it came out perfect. Most people who heard the song said I was good, and that kind of thrust me into the music industry. I moved back to Zimbabwe and started working with Muchie, and also with Gaanwid at Trinidad Studios. Gee Brandon was born.
BN: What does your music bring to the reggae genre?
GB:I'm striving to give my reggae music and international appeal. And i mostly sing a language that everybody understands no matter where you are on earth. . . Its the language of love as people put it, its what turns the world around.
BN: Who influenced you? And what is your motivation?
GB: I always considered mostly Cris Martin and Alaine Laughton as top notch singers, there music influenced me greatly. Seeing some successful singers motivated me. I'm left with a feeling that if they manage to make it to the top, nothing can stop me from carving my own name on the world of fame.
BN: What do you see as the future of reggae and music in general?
GB: Reggae has evolved over the years and the latest trend is indicating that reggae is fusing with R&B, this is going to give reggae a much wider audience. The cyber world has made it possible for our music to reach places we never dreamt possible. The music industry's growth curve is on the upward trend and hence the future looks bright for us.
BN: Playing or recording what do you prefer?
GB: I prefer recording because i get to express all my emotions there.
BN: How do you sum up your musical career during 2011 and what are your plans for 2012?
GB: 2011 saw myself recording mostly reggae songs. Ive since made a name for myself in Zimbabwe. I'm working on diversifying my music spectrum to include R&B, Pop and Dance. I'm currently working with my producer Muchie and we have super hits up our sleeves. I will also be making more reggae songs this year at Trinidad Studios (Zimbabwe). Big up Trini-family, also looking forward to working with other ZimDancehall artists.
BN: Please tell the folks what you would like them to know.
